Installing a pool in the garden
From idea to reality
A garden pool is a major project that calls for careful planning. The process starts with a ground investigation and a technical design, followed by an excavation permit and consultation with the neighbours.
The process
- Design — placement, size, type (concrete, liner or prefabricated)
- Excavation — typically 1.5–2 metres deep
- Construction — casting the concrete or installing the pool shell
- Technical installations — pump, filter, heating and lighting
- Finishing the garden — paving, surfacing and planting around the pool
Timeline
A typical pool project takes 8–16 weeks from start to first swim, depending on the type of pool and the weather.
